Show us favor, O Lord, show us favor! For we have had our fill of humiliation, and then some. ¹ 

Have pity on me, my friends, have pity on me, for the hand of God has struck me.

The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; ¹ 

Moreover, at that time I pleaded with the Lord,

My breath is repulsive ¹  to my wife; I am loathsome ²  to my brothers. ³ 

But I have integrity! ¹  Rescue me ²  and have mercy on me!

Hear me, ¹  O Lord, when I cry out! Have mercy on me and answer me!

All day long he shows compassion and lends to others, ¹  and his children ²  are blessed.

Remove me from the path of deceit! ¹  Graciously give me ²  your law!

I seek your favor ¹  with all my heart. Have mercy on me as you promised! ² 

Turn toward me and extend mercy to me, as you typically do to your loyal followers. ¹ 

The one who despises his neighbor sins, but whoever is kind to the needy is blessed.

For people will live in Zion; in Jerusalem ¹  you will weep no more. ²  When he hears your cry of despair, he will indeed show you mercy; when he hears it, he will respond to you. ³ 

But ¹  if you will look ²  to God, and make your supplication ³  to the Almighty,

Although ¹  I am innocent, ²  I could not answer him; ³  I could only plead ⁴  with my judge ⁵  for mercy.

I summon ¹  my servant, but he does not respond, even though I implore ²  him with my own mouth.

and if ¹  God ²  is gracious to him and says, ‘Spare ³  him from going down to the place of corruption, I have found a ransom for him,’ ⁴ 

Turn toward me and have mercy on me, for I am alone ¹  and oppressed!

To you, O Lord, I cried out; I begged the Lord for mercy: ¹ 

Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me! O Lord, deliver me!” ¹
