The child grew and was weaned. Abraham prepared ¹  a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. ² 

Manoah’s wife ¹  gave birth to a son and named him Samson. ²  The child grew and the Lord empowered ³  him.

The tree grew large and strong. Its top reached far into the sky; it could be seen ¹  from the borders of all the land. ² 

God was with the boy as he grew. He lived in the wilderness and became an archer.

Samuel continued to grow, and the Lord was with him. None of his prophecies fell to the ground unfulfilled. ¹ 

And the child grew and became strong, ¹  filled with wisdom, ²  and the favor ³  of God ⁴  was upon him.

So he overthrew those cities and all that region, ¹  including all the inhabitants of the cities and the vegetation that grew ²  from the ground.

When the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, ¹  Moses was speaking ²  and God was answering him with a voice. ³ 

In this way the word of the Lord ¹  continued to grow in power ²  and to prevail. ³ 

Other seed fell among the thorns, ¹  and they grew up with it and choked ²  it.

When the boys grew up, Esau became a skilled ¹  hunter, a man of the open fields, but Jacob was an even-tempered man, living in tents. ² 

So the Lord graciously attended to Hannah, and she was able to conceive and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. The boy Samuel grew up at the Lord’s sanctuary. ¹ 

However, the war was prolonged between the house of Saul and the house of David. David was becoming steadily stronger, while the house of Saul was becoming increasingly weaker.

But Jeshurun ¹  became fat and kicked, you ²  got fat, thick, and stuffed! Then he deserted the God who made him, and treated the Rock who saved him with contempt.

But the word of God ¹  kept on increasing ²  and multiplying.

Now the boy Samuel was growing up and finding favor both with the Lord and with people.

The tree that you saw that grew large and strong, whose top reached to the sky, and which could be seen ¹  in all the land,

From one of them came a small horn. ¹  But it grew to be very big, toward the south and the east and toward the beautiful land. ² 

It grew so big it reached the army ¹  of heaven, and it brought about the fall of some of the army and some of the stars ²  to the ground, where it trampled them.

And the child kept growing ¹  and becoming strong ²  in spirit, and he was in the wilderness ³  until the day he was revealed ⁴  to Israel.
