For they said, “Not during the feast, so there won’t be a riot among the people.” ¹ 

a light, ¹  for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory ²  to your people Israel.”

As ¹  all the people were listening, Jesus ²  said to his disciples,

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, ¹  replied, ²  “Rulers of the people and elders, ³ 

for a crowd of people ¹  followed them, ²  screaming, “Away with him!”

And again it says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.” ¹ 

and for this reason he is obligated to make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people.

After assembling all the chief priests and experts in the law, ¹  he asked them where the Christ ²  was to be born.

Now ¹  the whole crowd ²  of people were praying outside at the hour of the incense offering. ³ 

After Jesus ¹  had finished teaching all this to the people, ²  he entered Capernaum. ³ 

Thus ¹  they were unable in the presence of the people to trap ²  him with his own words. ³  And stunned ⁴  by his answer, they fell silent.

A great number of the people followed him, among them women ¹  who were mourning ²  and wailing for him.

(Now it was Caiaphas who had advised ¹  the Jewish leaders ²  that it was to their advantage that one man die for the people.) ³ 

Every person ¹  who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed ²  from the people.’ ³ 

I will rescue ¹  you from your own people ²  and from the Gentiles, to whom ³  I am sending you

Then the chief priests and the elders of the people met together in the palace of the high priest, who was named Caiaphas.

When ¹  it was early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to execute him.

While the people were filled with anticipation ¹  and they all wondered ²  whether perhaps John ³  could be the Christ, ⁴ 

Jesus ¹  was teaching daily in the temple courts. The chief priests and the experts in the law ²  and the prominent leaders among the people were seeking to assassinate ³  him,

When day came, the council of the elders of the people gathered together, both the chief priests and the experts in the law. ¹  Then ²  they led Jesus ³  away to their council ⁴
