and so incur judgment for breaking their former pledge. ¹ 

He must not be a recent convert or he may become arrogant ¹  and fall into the punishment that the devil will exact. ²

and how our chief priests and rulers handed him over ¹  to be condemned to death, and crucified ²  him.

Now we know that God’s judgment is in accordance with truth ¹  against those who practice such things.

For the one who eats and drinks without careful regard ¹  for the body eats and drinks judgment against himself.

And do you think, ¹  whoever you are, when you judge ²  those who practice such things and yet do them yourself, ³  that you will escape God’s judgment?

And the gift is not like the one who sinned. ¹  For judgment, resulting from the one transgression, ²  led to condemnation, but ³  the gracious gift from the many failures ⁴  led to justification.

So the person who resists such authority ¹  resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment

If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that when you assemble it does not lead to judgment. I will give directions about other matters when I come.

I am confident ¹  in the Lord that you will accept no other view. ²  But the one who is confusing ³  you will pay the penalty, ⁴  whoever he may be.

And why not say, “Let us do evil so that good may come of it”? – as some who slander us allege that we say. ¹  (Their ²  condemnation is deserved!)

For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house ¹  of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate ²  of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?

For certain men ¹  have secretly slipped in among you ²  – men who long ago ³  were marked out ⁴  for the condemnation I am about to describe ⁵  – ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into a license for evil ⁶  and who deny our only Master ⁷  and Lord, ⁸  Jesus Christ.
