If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven; ¹  if you retain anyone’s sins, they are retained.” ² 

But if we examined ourselves, we would not be judged.

For he says to Moses: “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” ¹ 

Whenever ¹  you enter a town or village, ²  find out who is worthy there ³  and stay with them ⁴  until you leave.

And, ‘Whoever swears by the altar is bound by nothing. ¹  But if anyone swears by the gift on it he is bound by the oath.’

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, ¹  but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Just ¹  as Isaiah predicted, “If the Lord of armies ²  had not left us descendants, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have resembled Gomorrah.” ³ 

“It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’ ¹ 

and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave ¹  –

And whatever you ask in prayer, if you believe, ¹  you will receive.”

and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave ¹  of all.

So ¹  they made signs to the baby’s ²  father, ³  inquiring what he wanted to name his son. ⁴ 

Whatever ¹  house you enter, stay there ²  until you leave the area. ³ 

Now an argument started among the disciples ¹  as to which of them might be ²  the greatest.

Whenever ¹  you enter a house, ²  first say, ‘May peace ³  be on this house!’

So ¹  he called one of the slaves ²  and asked what was happening.

If ¹  you believed Moses, you would believe me, because he wrote about me.

For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. ¹
