When King Herod ¹  heard this he was alarmed, and all Jerusalem with him.

Now when Jesus ¹  heard that John had been imprisoned, ²  he went into Galilee.

But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised!”

But when the man ¹  heard this he became very sad, ²  for he was extremely wealthy.

When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what was going on.

Now when Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.

So when Jacob heard that there was grain ¹  in Egypt, he sent our ancestors ²  there ³  the first time.

When ¹  Jesus heard this he said, “Those who are healthy don’t need a physician, but those who are sick do. ² 

Now when John ¹  heard in prison about the deeds Christ ²  had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question: ³ 

But when the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he was very rich. ¹ 

(Now ¹  all the people who heard this, even the tax collectors, ²  acknowledged ³  God’s justice, because they had been baptized ⁴  with John’s baptism.

But when Jesus heard this, he told ¹  him, “Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” ² 

When ¹  Jesus heard this he was amazed and said to those who followed him, “I tell you the truth, ²  I have not found such faith in anyone in Israel!

Now when Jesus heard this he went away from there privately in a boat to an isolated place. But when the crowd heard about it, ¹  they followed him on foot from the towns. ² 

When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to shout, ¹  “Jesus, Son of David, ²  have mercy ³  on me!”

Now ¹  one of the experts in the law ²  came and heard them debating. When he saw that Jesus ³  answered them well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”

When the centurion ¹  heard ²  about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders ³  to him, asking him to come ⁴  and heal his slave.

When ¹  one of those at the meal with Jesus ²  heard this, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone ³  who will feast ⁴  in the kingdom of God!” ⁵ 

It is written in the prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ ¹  Everyone who hears and learns from the Father ²  comes to me.

The crowd that stood there and heard the voice ¹  said that it had thundered. Others said that an angel had spoken to him. ²
