(These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.) ¹ 

“Blessed ¹  are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;

For this is certain: ¹  The days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore children, and the breasts that never nursed!’ ² 

Then ¹  Jesus ²  said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” ³ 

¹ Wives, submit ²  to your husbands as to the Lord,

the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. ¹ 

For in the same way the holy women who hoped in God long ago adorned themselves by being subject to their husbands,

And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.

The ¹  foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’

but ¹  worldly cares, the seductiveness of wealth, ²  and the desire for other things come in and choke the word, ³  and it produces nothing.

When he was in Galilee, they had followed him and given him support. ¹  Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem ²  were there too.

Therefore I tell you, her sins, which were many, are forgiven, thus she loved much; ¹  but the one who is forgiven little loves little.”

who are Israelites. To them belong ¹  the adoption as sons, ²  the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple worship, ³  and the promises.

Even all the hairs on your head are numbered.

When ¹  the foolish ones took their lamps, they did not take extra ²  olive oil ³  with them.

But the wise ones took flasks of olive oil with their lamps.

Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.

Later, ¹  the other virgins came too, saying, ‘Lord, lord! Let us in!’ ² 

How then would the scriptures that say it must happen this way be fulfilled?”

Many gave false testimony against him, but their testimony did not agree.
