(For John had not yet been thrown into prison.) ¹ 

“Do not think that I have come to bring ¹  peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.

So ¹  that huge dragon – the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.

Then ¹  he ²  sat down opposite the offering box, ³  and watched the crowd putting coins into it. Many rich people were throwing in large amounts.

For they all gave out of their wealth. ¹  But she, out of her poverty, put in what she had to live on, everything she had.” ² 

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

When ¹  they had crucified ²  him, they divided his clothes by throwing dice. ³ 

And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, ¹  worth less than a penny.

“I have come ¹  to bring ²  fire on the earth – and how I wish it were already kindled!

But at his gate lay ¹  a poor man named Lazarus ²  whose body was covered with sores, ³ 

Jesus ¹  looked up ²  and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box. ³ 

He also saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. ¹ 

While they were screaming ¹  and throwing off their cloaks ²  and tossing dust ³  in the air,

Not long after this, a hurricane-force ¹  wind called the northeaster ²  blew down from the island. ³ 

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; ¹  otherwise the skins burst and the wine is spilled out and the skins are destroyed. Instead they put new wine into new wineskins ²  and both are preserved.”

And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye than to have ¹  two eyes and be thrown into fiery hell. ² 

He called his disciples and said to them, “I tell you the truth, ¹  this poor widow has put more into the offering box ²  than all the others. ³ 

For they all offered their gifts out of their wealth. ¹  But she, out of her poverty, put in everything she had to live on.” ² 

If anyone does not remain ¹  in me, he is thrown out like a branch, and dries up; and such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, ²  and are burned up. ³ 

He told them, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” ¹  So they threw the net, ²  and were not able to pull it in because of the large number of fish.
