I will therefore have him flogged ¹  and release him.” ² 

There were about four thousand ¹  who ate. ²  Then he dismissed them. ³ 

After ¹  he had said ²  this, ³  he dismissed the assembly. ⁴ 

“Do ¹  not judge, ²  and you will not be judged; ³  do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, ⁴  and you will be forgiven.

“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries ¹  someone else commits adultery, and the one who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery.

But it is your custom that I release one prisoner ¹  for you at the Passover. ²  So do you want me to release for you the king of the Jews?”

“It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’ ¹ 

They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?” ¹ 

They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.” ¹ 

And if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” ¹ 

During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, ¹  whomever they requested.

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release ¹  Barabbas instead.

“Now, according to your word, ¹  Sovereign Lord, ²  permit ³  your servant ⁴  to depart ⁵  in peace.

But they remained silent. So ¹  Jesus ²  took hold of the man, ³  healed him, and sent him away. ⁴ 

But they all shouted out together, ¹  “Take this man ²  away! Release Barabbas for us!”

Pilate addressed them once again because he wanted ¹  to release Jesus.

Then, after they had fasted ¹  and ²  prayed and placed their hands ³  on them, they sent them off.

After ¹  they had spent some time there, ²  they were sent off in peace by the brothers to those who had sent them. ³ 

After ¹  the city officials ²  had received bail ³  from Jason and the others, they released them.

But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except for immorality, makes her commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
