Now early in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry.

When evening came, Jesus and his disciples ¹  went out of the city.

So ¹  they left the town and began coming ²  to him.

So there was ¹  great joy ²  in that city.

and from there to Philippi, ¹  which is a leading city of that district ²  of Macedonia, ³  a Roman colony. ⁴  We stayed in this city for some days.

After getting into a boat he crossed to the other side and came to his own town. ¹ 

And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and spent the night there.

The whole town gathered by the door.

Everyone ¹  went to his own town ²  to be registered.

Today ¹  your Savior is born in the city ²  of David. ³  He is Christ ⁴  the Lord.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  traveled throughout ³  towns ⁴  and villages, teaching and making his way toward ⁵  Jerusalem. ⁶ 

So ¹  the king ²  said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’

Now ¹  when Jesus ²  approached ³  and saw the city, he wept over it,

(Now Philip was from Bethsaida, ¹  the town of ²  Andrew and Peter.)

(For his disciples had gone off into the town to buy supplies. ¹ ) ² 

Philip went down to the main city of Samaria ¹  and began proclaiming ²  the Christ ³  to them.

We put out to sea ¹  from Troas ²  and sailed a straight course ³  to Samothrace, ⁴  the next day to Neapolis, ⁵ 

and came ¹  and apologized to them. After ²  they brought them out, they asked them repeatedly ³  to leave the city.

But you have come to Mount Zion, the city ¹  of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assembly

For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.
