Now ¹  John’s ²  disciples and the Pharisees ³  were fasting. ⁴  So ⁵  they came to Jesus ⁶  and said, “Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t fast?”

So the disciples went back to their homes.

And the disciples were filled with joy ¹  and with the Holy Spirit.

So they spent ¹  considerable ²  time with the disciples.

They ¹  heaped insults ²  on him, saying, ³  “You are his disciple! ⁴  We are disciples of Moses!

Then John’s ¹  disciples came to Jesus ²  and asked, “Why do we and the Pharisees ³  fast often, ⁴  but your disciples don’t fast?”

he took the seven loaves and the fish, and after giving thanks, he broke them and began giving them to the disciples, who then gave them to the crowds. ¹ 

He then said to his disciple, “Look, here is your mother!” From that very time ¹  the disciple took her into his own home.

When he arrived in Jerusalem, ¹  he attempted to associate ²  with the disciples, and they were all afraid of him, because they did not believe ³  that he was a disciple.

Some of the disciples from Caesarea ¹  came along with us too, and brought us to the house ²  of Mnason of Cyprus, a disciple from the earliest times, ³  with whom we were to stay.

As he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. ¹ 

Jesus and his disciples got up and followed him.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

“A disciple is not greater than his teacher, nor a slave ¹  greater than his master.

Then ¹  the disciples came to him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”

When the disciples went to the other side, they forgot to take bread.

Then he instructed his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ. ¹ 

When the disciples heard this, they were overwhelmed with fear and threw themselves down with their faces to the ground. ¹ 

Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them about John the Baptist.

I brought him to your disciples, but ¹  they were not able to heal him.”
