He asked them, “What are you arguing about with them?”

For they did not dare any longer to ask ¹  him anything.

And one of them, an expert in religious law, ¹  asked him a question to test ²  him:

While ¹  the Pharisees ²  were assembled, Jesus asked them a question: ³ 

But they did not understand this statement and were afraid to ask him.

In the house once again, the disciples asked him about this.

So ¹  the crowds were asking ²  him, “What then should we do?”

Then ¹  his disciples asked him what this parable meant. ² 

Now when Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.

So ¹  Herod ²  questioned him at considerable length; Jesus ³  gave him no answer.

For this reason his parents said, “He is a mature adult, ¹  ask him.”) ² 

Then Jesus ¹  asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus the Nazarene.”

When they had brought them, they stood them before the council, ¹  and the high priest questioned ²  them,

When the governor ¹  had read ²  the letter, ³  he asked ⁴  what province he was from. ⁵  When he learned ⁶  that he was from Cilicia, ⁷ 

Now when the Pharisees ¹  and Sadducees ²  came to test Jesus, ³  they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. ⁴ 

The same day Sadducees ¹  (who say there is no resurrection) ²  came to him and asked him, ³ 

No one ¹  was able to answer him a word, and from that day on no one dared to question him any longer.

Jesus ¹  asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “My name is Legion, ²  for we are many.”

Now ¹  when Jesus ²  had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.

Then ¹  they asked him, ²  “Why do the experts in the law ³  say that Elijah must come first?”
