Now ¹  a woman was there who had been suffering from a hemorrhage ²  for twelve years. ³ 

“Their feet are swift to shed blood,

So even the first covenant was inaugurated with blood. ¹ 

For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. ¹ 

You have not yet resisted to the point of bloodshed ¹  in your struggle against sin.

but by precious blood like that of an unblemished and spotless lamb, namely Christ.

because they poured out the blood of your saints and prophets, so ¹  you have given them blood to drink. They got what they deserved!” ² 

so that on you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Barachiah, ¹  whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

from the blood of Abel ¹  to the blood of Zechariah, ²  who was killed ³  between the altar and the sanctuary. ⁴  Yes, I tell you, it will be charged against ⁵  this generation.

and he entered once for all into the most holy place not by the blood of goats and calves but by his own blood, and so he himself secured ¹  eternal redemption.

For this reason that field has been called the “Field of Blood” to this day.

and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that God has commanded you to keep.” ¹ 

Therefore, brothers and sisters, ¹  since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus,

and to Jesus, the mediator ¹  of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does. ² 

I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of those who testified to Jesus. ¹  I ²  was greatly astounded ³  when I saw her.

for this is my blood, the blood ¹  of the covenant, ²  that is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said, “What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”

In ¹  reply all the people said, “Let his blood be on us and on our children!”

He said to them, “This is my blood, the blood ¹  of the covenant, ²  that is poured out for many.
