He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, ¹  – prophesy, son of man – and say to the breath: ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these corpses so that they may live.’”

By the breath ¹  of God they perish, ²  and by the blast ³  of his anger they are consumed.

The breath of God produces ice, and the breadth of the waters freeze solid.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Its breath sets coals ablaze and a flame shoots from its mouth.

for while ¹  my spirit ²  is still in me, and the breath from God is in my nostrils,

The Lord God formed ¹  the man from the soil of the ground ²  and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, ³  and the man became a living being. ⁴ 

Everything on dry land that had the breath of life ¹  in its nostrils died.

and ears, but cannot hear. Indeed, they cannot breathe. ¹ 

But Jesus cried out with a loud voice and breathed his last.

And after he said this, he breathed on them and said, ¹  “Receive the Holy Spirit. ² 

People ¹  are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears. ² 

He does not allow ¹  me to recover ²  my breath, for he fills ³  me with bitterness.

in whose hand ¹  is the life ²  of every creature and the breath of all the human race. ³ 

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life. ¹ 

If God ¹  were to set his heart on it, ²  and gather in his spirit and his breath,

This is what the sovereign Lord says to these bones: Look, I am about to infuse breath ¹  into you and you will live.

Pairs ¹  of all creatures ²  that have the breath of life came into the ark to Noah.

But it is a spirit in people, the breath ¹  of the Almighty, that makes them understand.

By the Lord’s decree ¹  the heavens were made; by a mere word from his mouth all the stars in the sky were created. ²
