“Be patient ¹  with me a little longer and I will instruct you, for I still have words to speak on God’s behalf. ² 

On behalf of such an individual I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except about my weaknesses.

At that time ¹  you will ask in my name, and I do not say ²  that I will ask the Father on your behalf.

I am praying ¹  on behalf of them. I am not praying ²  on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those you have given me, because they belong to you. ³ 

“I am not praying ¹  only on their behalf, but also on behalf of those who believe ²  in me through their testimony, ³ 

You must not present anything that has a flaw, ¹  because it will not be acceptable for your benefit. ² 

as you also join in helping us by prayer, so that many people may give thanks to God ¹  on our behalf for the gracious gift given to us through the help of many.

He must lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted for him to make atonement ¹  on his behalf.

¹ They will say to you, “Seek oracles at the pits used to conjure up underworld spirits, from the magicians who chirp and mutter incantations. ²  Should people not seek oracles from their gods, by asking the dead about the destiny of the living?” ³ 

You learned the gospel ¹  from Epaphras, our dear fellow slave ²  – a ³  faithful minister of Christ on our ⁴  behalf –

His mother’s relatives ¹  spoke on his behalf to ²  all the leaders of Shechem and reported his proposal. ³  The leaders were drawn to Abimelech; ⁴  they said, “He is our close relative.” ⁵ 

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

“‘When you sacrifice a peace offering sacrifice to the Lord, you must sacrifice it so that it is accepted for you. ¹ 

When you sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to the Lord, you must sacrifice it so that it is acceptable for your benefit. ¹ 

For this reason I ask you ¹  not to lose heart because of what I am suffering for you, ²  which ³  is your glory. ⁴ 

Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His plea ¹  through us. We plead with you ²  on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God!”

Bathsheba replied, “That’s fine, ¹  I’ll speak to the king on your behalf.”

Will you speak wickedly ¹  on God’s behalf? ²  Will you speak deceitfully for him?

“If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true.

Even from a foreigner ¹  you must not present the food of your God from such animals as these, for they are ruined and flawed; ²  they will not be acceptable for your benefit.’”
