‘These large beasts, which are four in number, represent four kings who will arise from the earth.

Take your brother too, and go right away ¹  to the man. ² 

Rise up, Lord! ¹  Don’t let men be defiant! ²  May the nations be judged in your presence!

Rise up, Lord! ¹  O God, strike him down! ²  Do not forget the oppressed!

Ascend, O Lord, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength!

Then ¹  he said to them, “Why are you frightened, ²  and why do doubts ³  arise in your hearts?

The ten horns mean that ten kings will arise from that kingdom. Another king will arise after them, but he will be different from the earlier ones. He will humiliate ¹  three kings.

Abner said to Joab, “Let the soldiers get up and fight ¹  before us.” Joab said, “So be it!” ² 

So come on, let’s go ahead and attack it by night and destroy all its fortified buildings.’

Then a powerful king ¹  will arise, exercising great authority and doing as he pleases.

And this is even clearer if another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek,

“Arise! Shine! For your light arrives! The splendor ¹  of the Lord shines on you!

Wake up, wake up, Deborah! Wake up, wake up, sing a song! Get up, Barak! Capture your prisoners of war, ¹  son of Abinoam!

Get up and ¹  walk throughout ²  the land, ³  for I will give it to you.”

Now then, my son, do what I say. ¹  Run away immediately ²  to my brother Laban in Haran.

Suppose a prophet or one who foretells by dreams ¹  should appear among you and show you a sign or wonder, ² 

“As for you, get up and go home. When you set foot in the city, the boy will die.

in using gold, silver, bronze, and iron. ¹  Get up and begin the work! May the Lord be with you!”

Rise up, O God, and execute judgment on the earth! For you own ¹  all the nations.

They curse, but you will bless. ¹  When they attack, they will be humiliated, ²  but your servant will rejoice.
