Pilate addressed them once again because he wanted ¹  to release Jesus.

(When they heard ¹  that he was addressing ²  them in Aramaic, ³  they became even ⁴  quieter.) ⁵  Then ⁶  Paul said,

Then ¹  one of the elders asked ²  me, “These dressed in long white robes – who are they and where have they come from?”

Then he said to the council, ¹  “Men of Israel, ²  pay close attention to ³  what you are about to do to these men.

And have you forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons? “My son, do not scorn ¹  the Lord’s discipline or give up when he corrects ²  you.

On a day determined in advance, Herod ¹  put on his royal robes, ²  sat down on the judgment seat, ³  and made a speech ⁴  to them.

When the commanding officer ¹  had given him permission, ²  Paul stood ³  on the steps and gestured ⁴  to the people with his hand. When they had become silent, ⁵  he addressed ⁶  them in Aramaic, ⁷ 

But Peter stood up ¹  with the eleven, raised his voice, and addressed them: “You men of Judea ²  and all you who live in Jerusalem, ³  know this ⁴  and listen carefully to what I say.

Then Moses went ¹  and spoke these words ²  to all Israel.

Then the Lord said to Moses that same day,

Then the Lord answered Job from the whirlwind:

For the music director; according to the tune of “Lilies;” ²  by the Korahites, a well-written poem, ³  a love song. My heart is stirred by a beautiful song. ⁴  I say, “I have composed this special song ⁵  for the king; my tongue is as skilled as the stylus of an experienced scribe.” ⁶ 

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples,

Then Shecaniah son of Jehiel, from the descendants of Elam, ¹  addressed Ezra: “We have been unfaithful to our God by marrying ²  foreign women from the local peoples. ³  Nonetheless, there is still hope for Israel in this regard. ⁴ 

Then Moses said to the congregation: “This is what the Lord has commanded to be done.”

“The Levites will call out to every Israelite ¹  with a loud voice:

Joshua told the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh:

Then call, ¹  and I will answer, or I will speak, and you respond to me.

Then some of the elders of Judah ¹  stepped forward and spoke to all the people gathered there. They said,

When Peter saw this, he declared to the people, “Men of Israel, ¹  why are you amazed at this? Why ²  do you stare at us as if we had made this man ³  walk by our own power or piety?
