There are ¹  three gates on the east side, three gates on the north side, three gates on the south side and three gates on the west side. ² 

over the Ephraim Gate, the Jeshanah Gate, ¹  the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel, and the Tower of the Hundred, to the Sheep Gate. They stopped ²  at the Gate of the Guard.

When the priests and Levites had purified themselves, they purified the people, the gates, and the wall.

This is the Lord’s gate – the godly enter through it.

The elders are gone from the city gate; the young men have stopped playing their music.

The sluice gates ¹  are opened; the royal palace is deluged ²  and dissolves. ³ 

Its gates will never be closed during the day ¹  (and ²  there will be no night there). ³
