And I was with you in weakness and in fear and with much trembling.

It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;

He is able to deal compassionately with those who are ignorant and erring, since he also is subject to weakness,

For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, ¹  and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. ² 

quenched raging fire, ¹  escaped the edge of the sword, gained strength in weakness, ²  became mighty in battle, put foreign armies to flight,

If I must boast, ¹  I will boast about the things that show my weakness. ²

He ¹  will afflict you with weakness, ²  fever, inflammation, infection, ³  sword, ⁴  blight, and mildew; these will attack you until you perish.

Now you are declaring that you will resist the Lord’s rule through the Davidic dynasty. ¹  You have a huge army, ²  and bring with you the gold calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.
