For the music director, a psalm of David. O Lord, you examine me ²  and know.

How the people of Esau ¹  will be thoroughly plundered! ²  Their ³  hidden valuables will be ransacked! ⁴ 

But when he arrived in Rome, ¹  he eagerly searched for me and found me.

then he looked at wisdom ¹  and assessed its value; ²  he established ³  it and examined it closely. ⁴

Concerning this salvation, ¹  the prophets ²  who predicted the grace that would come to you ³  searched and investigated carefully.
