So the people rested on the seventh day.

Then ¹  they returned and prepared aromatic spices ²  and perfumes. ³  On the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. ⁴ 

All of this happened on the thirteenth day of the month of Adar. They then rested on the fourteenth day and made it a day for banqueting and happiness.

For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,” ¹ 

By ¹  the seventh day God finished the work that he had been doing, ²  and he ceased ³  on the seventh day all the work that he had been doing.

God blessed the seventh day and made it holy ¹  because on it he ceased all the work that he ²  had been doing in creation. ³ 

But the Jews who were in Susa assembled on the thirteenth and fourteenth days, and rested on the fifteenth, making it a day for banqueting and happiness.

And when it came to rest he would say, “Return, O Lord, to the many thousands of Israel!” ¹ 

For the one who enters God’s ¹  rest has also rested from his works, just as God did from his own works.

It is a sign between me and the Israelites forever; for in six days ¹  the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’” ² 

For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, and he rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.

And the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to them, and he took some of the Spirit that was on Moses ¹  and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, ²  they prophesied, ³  but did not do so again. ⁴ 

But two men remained in the camp; one’s name was Eldad, and the other’s name was Medad. And the spirit rested on them. (Now they were among those in the registration, ¹  but had not gone to the tabernacle.) So they prophesied in the camp.

On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on one of the mountains of Ararat. ¹ 

One day Elisha ¹  came for a visit; he went ²  into the upper room and rested. ³ 

And tongues spreading out like a fire ¹  appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.

Then David passed away ¹  and was buried in the city of David. ² 

Ahab passed away. ¹  His son Ahaziah replaced him as king.

Menahem passed away ¹  and his son Pekahiah replaced him as king.

He passed away ¹  and his son Jehoiachin replaced him as king.
