Smoke streams from its nostrils as from a boiling pot over burning ¹  rushes.

It makes the deep boil like a cauldron and stirs up the sea like a pot of ointment, ¹ 

He said, “Get some flour.” Then he threw it into the pot and said, “Now pour some out for the men so they may eat.” ¹  There was no longer anything harmful in the pot.

As for any clay vessel they fall into, ¹  everything in it ²  will become unclean and you must break it.

They say, ¹  ‘The time is not near to build houses; ²  the city ³  is a cooking pot ⁴  and we are the meat in it.’

The Lord again asked me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a pot of boiling water; it is tipped toward us from the north.” ¹ 

Recite a proverb to this rebellious house ¹  and say to them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: “‘Set on the pot, ²  set it on, pour water in it too;

You ¹  devour my people’s flesh, strip off their skin, and crush their bones. You chop them up like flesh in a pot ²  – like meat in a kettle.

The crucible ¹  is for refining ²  silver and the furnace ³  is for gold, likewise ⁴  the Lord tests ⁵  hearts.

Therefore, this is what the sovereign Lord says: ‘The corpses you have dumped ¹  in the midst of the city ²  are the meat, and this city ³  is the cooking pot, but I will take you out of it. ⁴ 

Any clay vessel it is boiled in must be broken, and if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, then that vessel ¹  must be rubbed out and rinsed in water.

This city will not be a cooking pot for you, and you will not ¹  be meat within it; I will judge you at the border of Israel.

and he is to slaughter one bird into a clay vessel over fresh water. ¹
