Day after day it speaks out; ¹  night after night it reveals his greatness. ² 

For those who sleep, sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunk at night.

Indeed, ¹  let that night be barren; ²  let no shout of joy ³  penetrate ⁴  it!

These men ¹  change ²  night into day; they say, ³  ‘The light is near in the face of darkness.’ ⁴ 

Here is a message about Dumah: ¹  Someone calls to me from Seir, ²  “Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?” ³

And in that very night Belshazzar, the Babylonian king, ¹  was killed. ² 

Judas ¹  took the piece of bread and went out immediately. (Now it was night.) ² 

It was a night of vigil for the Lord to bring them out from the land of Egypt, ¹  and so ²  on this night all Israel is to keep the vigil ³  to the Lord for generations to come.

Do not long for the cover of night to drag people away from their homes. ¹ 

It is fitting ¹  to proclaim your loyal love in the morning, and your faithfulness during the night,
