‘Surely our enemies ¹  are destroyed, and fire consumes their wealth.’

Elisha said to him, “Go and tell him, ‘You will surely recover,’ ¹  but the Lord has revealed to me that he will surely die.”

Surely people go through life as mere ghosts. ¹  Surely they accumulate worthless wealth without knowing who will eventually haul it away.” ² 

I will surely punish them for doing such things!” says the Lord. “I will surely bring retribution on such a nation as this!” ¹ 

The serpent said to the woman, “Surely you will not die, ¹ 

¹ “Whoever strikes someone ²  so that he dies ³  must surely be put to death. ⁴ 

“Whoever strikes ¹  his father or his mother must surely be put to death.

“Whoever treats his father or his mother disgracefully ¹  must surely be put to death.

“Whoever has sexual relations ¹  with a beast must surely be put to death.

It is a guilt offering; he was surely guilty before the Lord.”

For I raise up my hand to heaven, and say, ‘As surely as I live forever,

but people ¹  are born ²  to trouble, as surely as the sparks ³  fly ⁴  upward. ⁵ 

“Surely now you count my steps; ²  then you would not mark ³  my sin. ⁴ 

Surely now he ¹  has worn me out, you have devastated my entire household.

Surely mockery ¹  is with me; ²  my eyes must dwell on their hostility. ³ 

“Surely ²  there is a mine ³  for silver, and a place where gold is refined. ⁴ 

Surely ¹  he rescues me from all trouble, ²  and I triumph over my enemies. ³ 

I concluded, ¹  “Surely in vain I have kept my motives ²  pure and maintained a pure lifestyle. ³ 

Surely ¹  you put them in slippery places; you bring them down ²  to ruin.

Surely it is futile to spread ¹  a net in plain sight of ²  any bird, ³
