Now Mount Sinai was completely covered with smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire, and its smoke went up like the smoke of a great furnace, ¹  and the whole mountain shook ²  violently.

He ¹  opened the shaft of the abyss and smoke rose out of it ²  like smoke from a giant furnace. The ³  sun and the air were darkened with smoke from the shaft.

Smoke streams from its nostrils as from a boiling pot over burning ¹  rushes.

Then he ¹  cut the ram into parts, ²  and Moses offered the head, the parts, and the suet up in smoke,

they ¹  set those on the breasts and he offered the fat parts up in smoke on the altar.

“Then he is to offer up the fat of the sin offering ¹  in smoke on the altar,

Smoke ascended from ¹  his nose; ²  fire devoured as it came from his mouth; ³  he hurled down fiery coals. ⁴

Like vinegar to the teeth and like smoke to the eyes, ¹  so is the sluggard to those ²  who send him.

I will produce portents both in the sky ¹  and on the earth – blood, fire, and columns of smoke.

Then the priest must offer them up in smoke on the altar as a food gift for a soothing aroma – all the fat belongs to the Lord.
