Thus the poor have hope, and iniquity ¹  shuts its mouth. ² 

When the godly see this, they rejoice, and every sinner ¹  shuts his mouth.

The one who shuts his ears ¹  to the cry ²  of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered. ³ 

The one who gives to the poor will not lack, ¹  but whoever shuts his eyes to them ²  will receive ³  many curses. ⁴ 

But whoever has the world’s possessions ¹  and sees his fellow Christian ²  in need and shuts off his compassion against him, how can the love of God ³  reside ⁴  in such a person? ⁵ 

Once ¹  the head of the house ²  gets up ³  and shuts the door, then you will stand outside and start to knock on the door and beg him, ‘Lord, ⁴  let us in!’ ⁵  But he will answer you, ⁶  ‘I don’t know where you come from.’ ⁷
