(40:25) ¹  “Can you pull in ²  Leviathan with a hook, and tie down ³  its tongue with a rope?

A rope is hidden for him ¹  on the ground and a trap for him ²  lies on the path.

Can you bind the wild ox ¹  to a furrow with its rope, will it till the valleys, following after you?

Then Rahab ¹  let them down by a rope ²  through the window. (Her ³  house was built as part of the city wall; she lived in the wall.) ⁴ 

She said, “I agree to these conditions.” ¹  She sent them on their way ²  and then tied the red rope in the window.

but I was let down in a rope-basket ¹  through a window in the city wall, and escaped his hands.

When we invade the land ¹ , tie this red rope ²  in the window through which you let us down, and gather together in your house your father, mother, brothers, and all who live in your father’s house. ³ 

A putrid stench will replace the smell of spices, ¹  a rope will replace a belt, baldness will replace braided locks of hair, a sackcloth garment will replace a fine robe, and a prisoner’s brand will replace beauty.
