For ignoring the righteousness that comes from God, and seeking instead to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

So indeed it was credited to Abraham ¹  as righteousness.

For human ¹  anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness. ² 

What shall we say then? – that the Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness obtained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith,

“Blessed are those who hunger ¹  and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

in holiness and righteousness ¹  before him for as long as we live. ² 

And when he ¹  comes, he will prove the world wrong ²  concerning sin and ³  righteousness and ⁴  judgment –

concerning righteousness, ¹  because ²  I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer;

and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

For when you were slaves of sin, you were free with regard to righteousness.

but Israel even though pursuing ¹  a law of righteousness ²  did not attain it. ³ 

Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, ¹ 

For through the Spirit, by faith, we wait expectantly for the hope of righteousness.

for the fruit of the light ¹  consists in ²  all goodness, righteousness, and truth –

And the fruit that consists of righteousness ¹  is planted ²  in peace among ³  those who make peace.

But above all pursue his kingdom ¹  and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ ¹  for all who believe. For there is no distinction,

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
