the promise ¹  he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac! ² 

In God – I boast in his promise ¹  – in the Lord – I boast in his promise ²  –

the promise ¹  he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac!

And so by persevering, Abraham ¹  inherited the promise.

However, listen to what I, the Lord, promise you, King Zedekiah of Judah. I, the Lord, promise that ¹  you will not die in battle or be executed. ² 

For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise, but God graciously gave ¹  it to Abraham through the promise.

Remember ¹  continually his covenantal decree, the promise he made ²  to a thousand generations –

He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise, ¹ 

Has his loyal love disappeared forever? Has his promise ¹  failed forever?

But I will not remove ¹  my loyal love from him, nor be unfaithful to my promise. ² 

He always remembers his covenantal decree, the promise he made ¹  to a thousand generations –

He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise, ¹ 

Yes, ¹  he remembered the sacred promise ²  he made to Abraham his servant.

They rejected the fruitful land; ¹  they did not believe his promise. ² 

Confirm to your servant your promise, ¹  which you made to the one who honors you. ² 

This ¹  is what comforts me in my trouble, for your promise revives me. ² 

And there are times when I promise to build up and establish ¹  a nation or kingdom.

And we proclaim to you the good news about the promise to our ancestors, ¹ 

For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified. ¹ 

But you, ¹  brothers and sisters, ²  are children of the promise like Isaac.
