Now godliness combined with contentment brings great profit.

For he says, ‘It does not profit a man when he makes his delight with God.’ ¹ 

But you say, ‘What will it profit you,’ ¹  and, ‘What do I gain by not sinning?’ ² 

Treasures gained by wickedness ¹  do not profit, but righteousness ²  delivers from mortal danger. ³

and constant bickering by people corrupted in their minds and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness ¹  is a way of making a profit.
