“I do not accept ¹  praise ²  from people, ³ 

Then ¹  he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for people, ²  not people for the Sabbath.

All ¹  the people saw him walking and praising God,

And again it says: “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.” ¹ 

I am speaking to thoughtful people. Consider what I say.

Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God.

These people are divisive, ¹  worldly, ²  devoid of the Spirit. ³ 

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, ¹  and you people ²  say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem.” ³ 

Am I now trying to gain the approval of people, ¹  or of God? Or am I trying to please people? ²  If I were still trying to please ³  people, ⁴  I would not be a slave ⁵  of Christ!

The field is the world and the good seed are the people ¹  of the kingdom. The weeds are the people ²  of the evil one,

But if we say, ‘From people,’ all the people will stone us, because they are convinced that John was a prophet.”

Jesus replied, ¹  “You people ²  are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world.

Consequently, ¹  just as condemnation ²  for all people ³  came ⁴  through one transgression, ⁵  so too through the one righteous act ⁶  came righteousness leading to life ⁷  for all people.

As he also says in Hosea: “I will call those who were not my people, ‘My people,’ and I will call her who was unloved, ¹  ‘My beloved.’” ² 

So, brothers and sisters, ¹  I could not speak to you as spiritual people, but instead as people of the flesh, ²  as infants in Christ.

You ¹  once were not a people, but now you are God’s people. You were shown no mercy, ²  but now you have received mercy.

He said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.” ¹ 

“Whoever, then, acknowledges ¹  me before people, I will acknowledge ²  before my Father in heaven.

But whoever denies me before people, I will deny him also before my Father in heaven.

‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart ¹  is far from me,
