The raging water would have overwhelmed us. ¹ 

The waters completely overwhelmed ¹  the earth, and the ark floated ²  on the surface of the waters.

When the sun went down, Abram fell sound asleep, ¹  and great terror overwhelmed him. ²

Both of these will come upon you suddenly, in one day! You will lose your children and be widowed. ¹  You will be overwhelmed by these tragedies, ²  despite ³  your many incantations and your numerous amulets. ⁴ 

When ¹  his parents ²  saw him, they were overwhelmed. His ³  mother said to him, “Child, ⁴  why have you treated ⁵  us like this? Look, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.” ⁶
