When the hay is removed and new grass appears, and the grass from the hills is gathered in,

The grass dries up, the flowers wither, when the wind sent by the Lord ¹  blows on them. Surely humanity ²  is like grass.

For they will quickly dry up like grass, and wither away like plants. ¹ 

Let them disappear ¹  like water that flows away! ²  Let them wither like grass! ³ 

He ¹  will descend like rain on the mown grass, ²  like showers that drench ³  the earth. ⁴ 

My heart is parched ¹  and withered like grass, for I am unable ²  to eat food. ³ 

My days are coming to an end, ¹  and I am withered like grass.

A person’s life is like grass. ¹  Like a flower in the field it flourishes,

They traded their majestic God ¹  for the image of an ox that eats grass.

The grass dries up, the flowers wither, but the decree of our God is forever reliable.” ¹ 

They will sprout up like a tree in the grass, ¹  like poplars beside channels of water.

Even the doe abandons her newborn fawn ¹  in the field because there is no grass.

You will also know that your children ¹  will be numerous, and your descendants ²  like the grass of the earth.

“Does the wild donkey ¹  bray ²  when it is near grass? ³  Or ⁴  does the ox low near its fodder? ⁵ 

While they are still beginning to flower ¹  and not ripe for cutting, ²  they can wither away ³  faster ⁴  than any grass! ⁵ 

“Look now at Behemoth, ²  which I made as ³  I made you; it eats grass like the ox.

When the wicked sprout up like grass, and all the evildoers glisten, ¹  it is so that they may be annihilated. ² 

He provides grass ¹  for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, ²  so they can produce food from the ground, ³ 

May they be like the grass on the rooftops which withers before one can even pull it up, ¹ 

He covers ¹  the sky with clouds, provides the earth with rain, and causes grass to grow on the hillsides. ²
