Blessed is that slave whom the master finds at work ¹  when he comes.

When it returns, ¹  it finds the house ²  swept clean and put in order. ³ 

Blessed is that slave ¹  whom his master finds at work ²  when he returns.

Whoever finds his life ¹  will lose it, ²  and whoever loses his life because of me ³  will find it.

For this finds God’s favor, ¹  if because of conscience toward God ²  someone endures hardships in suffering unjustly.

For everyone who asks ¹  receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Then it says, ‘I will return to the home I left.’ ¹  When it returns, ²  it finds the house ³  empty, swept clean, and put in order. ⁴ 

And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, ¹  he will rejoice more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray.

For everyone who asks ¹  receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door ²  will be opened.

Even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night ¹  and finds them alert, ²  blessed are those slaves! ³ 

Blessed are those slaves ¹  whom their master finds alert ²  when he returns! I tell you the truth, ³  he will dress himself to serve, ⁴  have them take their place at the table, ⁵  and will come ⁶  and wait on them! ⁷ 

“Which one ¹  of you, if he has a hundred ²  sheep and loses one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture ³  and go look for ⁴  the one that is lost until he finds it? ⁵ 

“Or what woman, if she has ten silver coins ¹  and loses ²  one of them, ³  does not light a lamp, sweep ⁴  the house, and search thoroughly until she finds it?

For what credit is it if you sin and are mistreated and endure it? But if you do good and suffer and so endure, this finds favor with God. ¹
