But Peter ¹  said to him, “Explain this parable to us.”

explain ¹  to your children, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan River ²  on dry ground.’

“I will explain to you; listen to me, and what ¹  I have seen, I will declare, ² 

Therefore I say, ‘Listen ¹  to me. I, even I, will explain what I know.’

I too will answer my part, I too will explain what I know.

“Teach ¹  me and I, for my part, ²  will be silent; explain to me ³  how I have been mistaken. ⁴ 

The Benjaminites heard that the Israelites had gone up to Mizpah. Then the Israelites said, “Explain how this wicked thing happened!”
