Let him not trust in what is worthless, ¹  deceiving himself; for worthlessness will be his reward. ² 

But evil people and charlatans will go from bad to worse, ¹  deceiving others and being deceived themselves. ² 

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the later times some will desert the faith and occupy themselves ¹  with deceiving spirits and demonic teachings, ² 

If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, ¹  we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.

“When a person sins and commits a trespass ¹  against the Lord by deceiving his fellow citizen ²  in regard to something held in trust, or a pledge, or something stolen, or by extorting something from his fellow citizen, ³ 

The destroyer is as good as dead, ¹  you who have not been destroyed! The deceitful one is as good as dead, ²  the one whom others have not deceived! When you are through destroying, you will be destroyed; when you finish ³  deceiving, others will deceive you!
