But God raised ¹  him from the dead,

O my God, make them like dead thistles, ¹  like dead weeds blown away by ²  the wind!

But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” ¹ 

Eighteen thousand Benjaminites, all of them capable warriors, fell dead.

And although you were ¹  dead ²  in your transgressions and sins,

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

When David saw that his servants were whispering to one another, he ¹  realized that the child was dead. So David asked his servants, “Is the child dead?” They replied, “Yes, he’s dead.”

The king said, “One says, ‘My son is alive; your son is dead,’ while the other says, ‘No, your son is dead; my son is alive.’”

Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He ¹  called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time.

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, ²  but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” ³ 

Now if Christ is being preached as raised from the dead, ¹  how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

Then Abraham got up from mourning his dead wife ¹  and said to the sons of Heth, ² 

But as for you, your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness,

He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was stopped.

When the Israelites saw that Abimelech was dead, they went home. ¹ 

When Uriah’s wife heard that her husband Uriah was dead, she mourned for him. ¹ 

When Elisha arrived at the house, there was ¹  the child lying dead on his bed.

“The dead ²  tremble ³  – those beneath the waters and all that live in them. ⁴ 

And its young ones devour the blood, and where the dead carcasses ¹  are, there it is.”
