Does God listen to his cry when distress overtakes him?

If you afflict them ¹  in any way ²  and they cry to me, I will surely hear ³  their cry,

“If ¹  I cry out, ²  ‘Violence!’ ³  I receive no answer; ⁴  I cry for help, but there is no justice.

The Lord is near all who cry out to him, all who cry out to him sincerely. ¹ 

Now Joshua had instructed the army, ¹  “Do not give a battle cry ²  or raise your voices; say nothing ³  until the day I tell you, ‘Give the battle cry.’ ⁴  Then give the battle cry!” ⁵ 

People of Jerusalem, ¹  go up to Lebanon and cry out in mourning. Go to the land of Bashan and cry out loudly. Cry out in mourning from the mountains of Moab. ²  For your allies ³  have all been defeated.

They cry out, ¹  but there is no one to help them; ²  they cry out to the Lord, ³  but he does not answer them.

so that they caused ¹  the cry of the poor to come before him, so that he hears ²  the cry of the needy.

“People ¹  cry out because of the excess of oppression; ²  they cry out for help because of the power ³  of the mighty. ⁴ 

They cry out, but there is no one to help them; ¹  they cry out to the Lord, ²  but he does not answer them.

A psalm of David. O Lord, I cry out to you. Come quickly to me! Pay attention to me when I cry out to you!

The one who shuts his ears ¹  to the cry ²  of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered. ³ 

¹ Then all the community raised a loud cry, ²  and the people wept ³  that night.

Then ¹  they cry out – but he does not answer – because of the arrogance of the wicked.

The godless at heart ¹  nourish anger, ²  they do not cry out even when he binds them.

Hear me, ¹  O Lord, when I cry out! Have mercy on me and answer me!

The Lord pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help. ¹ 

The godly ¹  cry out and the Lord hears; he saves them from all their troubles. ² 

I cry out for help to the sovereign God, ¹  to the God who vindicates ²  me.

Have mercy on me, ¹  O Lord, for I cry out to you all day long!
