“If you love me, you will obey ¹  my commandments. ² 

For ¹  this is the love of God: ²  that we keep his commandments. ³  And his commandments do not weigh us down,

If you obey ¹  my commandments, you will remain ²  in my love, just as I have obeyed ³  my Father’s commandments and remain ⁴  in his love.

“You must be sure to do my commandments. ¹  I am the Lord.

“‘If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments, ¹ 

“‘If, however, ¹  you do not obey me and keep ²  all these commandments –

These are the commandments which the Lord commanded Moses to tell the Israelites ¹  at Mount Sinai.

Thus ¹  you will remember and obey all my commandments and be holy to your God.

but I show covenant faithfulness ¹  to the thousands ²  who choose ³  me and keep my commandments.

So keep the commandments, statutes, and ordinances that I today am commanding you to do.

So you must keep his ¹  commandments, live according to his standards, ²  and revere him.

if you carefully obey ¹  him ²  by keeping ³  all these commandments that I am giving ⁴  you today.

You must obey him ¹  and keep his commandments and statutes that I am giving you today.”

You will return and obey the Lord, keeping all his commandments I am giving ¹  you today.

“But they – our ancestors ¹  – behaved presumptuously; they rebelled ²  and did not obey your commandments.

if they break ¹  my rules and do not keep my commandments,

Your commandments ¹  make me wiser than my enemies, for I am always aware of them.

My child, ²  do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep ³  my commandments,

The one who obeys commandments guards ¹  his life; the one who despises his ways ²  will die. ³ 

and they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” ¹
