At that time the Lord told Joshua, “Make flint knives and circumcise the Israelites once again.” ¹ 

You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskins. This will be a reminder ¹  of the covenant between me and you.

On ¹  the eighth day ²  they came to circumcise the child, and they wanted to name ³  him Zechariah after his father.

However, because Moses gave you the practice of circumcision ¹  (not that it came from Moses, but from the forefathers), you circumcise a male child ²  on the Sabbath.

This is why Joshua had to circumcise them: All the men old enough to fight when they left Egypt died on the journey through the desert after they left Egypt. ¹ 

But some from the religious party of the Pharisees ¹  who had believed stood up and said, “It is necessary ²  to circumcise the Gentiles ³  and to order them to observe ⁴  the law of Moses.”

They have been informed about you – that you teach all the Jews now living ¹  among the Gentiles to abandon ²  Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children ³  or live ⁴  according to our customs.
