So they ¹  proposed two candidates: ²  Joseph called Barsabbas (also called Justus) and Matthias.

He called a child, had him stand among them,

For many are called, but few are chosen.”

He came to a town called Nazareth ¹  and lived there. Then what had been spoken by the prophets was fulfilled, that Jesus ²  would be called a Nazarene. ³ 

and carrying his own cross ¹  he went out to the place called “The Place of the Skull” ²  (called in Aramaic ³  Golgotha). ⁴ 

And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.

Was anyone called after he had been circumcised? He should not try to undo his circumcision. ¹  Was anyone called who is uncircumcised? He should not get circumcised.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children ¹  of God.

Then he called the crowd to him and said, ¹  “Listen and understand.

Jesus stopped, called them, and said, “What do you want me to do for you?”

Nor are you to be called ‘teacher,’ for you have one teacher, the Christ. ¹ 

For this reason that field has been called the “Field of Blood” to this day.

They ¹  came to a place called Golgotha ²  (which means “Place of the Skull”) ³ 

So ¹  he called them and spoke to them in parables: ²  “How can Satan cast out Satan?

Then ¹  he called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand.

They brought Jesus ¹  to a place called Golgotha ²  (which is translated, “Place of the Skull”). ³ 

Matthew, Thomas, ¹  James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, ² 

So ¹  he called one of the slaves ²  and asked what was happening.

So ¹  he called out, ²  “Jesus, Son of David, ³  have mercy ⁴  on me!”

Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, ¹  which is called the Passover, was approaching.
