For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.

As he also says in Hosea: “I will call those who were not my people, ‘My people,’ and I will call her who was unloved, ¹  ‘My beloved.’” ² 

He said to them, “How then does David by the Spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying,

and elaborate greetings ¹  in the marketplaces, and to have people call them ‘Rabbi.’

I have not come ¹  to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” ² 

“Why ¹  do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ ²  and don’t do what I tell you? ³ 

He ¹  said to her, “Go call your husband and come back here.” ² 

You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and do so correctly, ¹  for that is what I am. ² 

They began to call ¹  Barnabas Zeus ²  and Paul Hermes, ³  because he was the chief speaker.

For God did not call us to impurity but in holiness.

“Look! The virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call him ¹  Emmanuel,” ²  which means ³  “God with us.” ⁴ 

And call no one your ‘father’ on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.

Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? ¹  No one is good except God alone.

Jesus ¹  said to him, “Why do you call me good? ²  No one is good except God alone.

and here he has authority from the chief priests to imprison ¹  all who call on your name!” ² 

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law ¹  and boast of your relationship to God ² 

with this goal in mind, ¹  I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God ²  in Christ Jesus.

I call on you solemnly in the Lord ¹  to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters. ² 

Go and learn what this saying means: ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice.’ ¹  For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
