Thus ¹  his anger burns against me, and he considers me among his enemies. ² 

Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, ¹ 

Fire goes before him; on every side ¹  it burns up his enemies.

and the one who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may reenter the camp.

The one who burns it ¹  must wash his clothes in water and bathe himself in water. He will be ceremonially unclean until evening.

O Samaria, he has rejected your calf idol! My anger burns against them! They will not survive much longer without being punished, ¹  even though they are Israelites!
