By David. O Lord, fight ²  those who fight with me! Attack those who attack me!

Evil men plot against the godly ¹  and viciously attack them. ² 

When evil men attack me ¹  to devour my flesh, ²  when my adversaries and enemies attack me, ³  they stumble and fall. ⁴ 

The Philistine drew steadily closer to David to attack him, while David quickly ran toward the battle line to attack the Philistine. ¹ 

Gad will be raided by marauding bands, but he will attack them at their heels. ¹

Then the Lord provoked ¹  their adversaries to attack them, ²  he stirred up ³  their enemies –
