The cherubim were spreading their wings ¹  upward, overshadowing the atonement lid with their wings. The cherubim ²  faced each other, ³  looking toward the atonement lid. ⁴ 

You must not do any work on this particular day, ¹  because it is a day of atonement to make atonement for yourselves ²  before the Lord your God.

the ark, with its poles, the atonement lid, and the special curtain that conceals it;

the ark of the testimony and its poles, and the atonement lid;

as well as one goat for a purification offering, to make atonement for you.

as well as one male goat to make an atonement for you.

with one male goat for a purification offering to make an atonement for you;

The cherubim are to be spreading their wings upward, overshadowing ¹  the atonement lid with their wings, and the cherubim are to face each other, ²  looking ³  toward the atonement lid.

Every day you are to prepare a bull for a purification offering ¹  for atonement. ²  You are to purge ³  the altar by making atonement ⁴  for it, and you are to anoint it to set it apart as holy.

You are to receive the atonement money ¹  from the Israelites and give it for the service ²  of the tent of meeting. It will be a memorial ³  for the Israelites before the Lord, to make atonement ⁴  for your lives.”

for the life of every living thing ¹  is in the blood. ²  So I myself have assigned it to you ³  on the altar to make atonement for your lives, for the blood makes atonement by means of the life. ⁴ 

And the priest must make atonement for the person who sins unintentionally – when he sins unintentionally before the Lord – to make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.

You are to put the atonement lid on the ark of the testimony in the Most Holy Place.

He made two cherubim of gold; he made them of hammered metal on the two ends of the atonement lid,

What has been done ¹  on this day the Lord has commanded to be done ²  to make atonement for you.

For seven days they will make atonement for the altar and cleanse it, so they will consecrate it. ¹ 

Aaron is to make atonement on its horns once in the year with some of the blood of the sin offering for atonement; ¹  once in the year ²  he is to make atonement on it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.” ³ 

You are to make two cherubim ¹  of gold; you are to make them of hammered metal on the two ends of the atonement lid.

Make ¹  one cherub on one end ²  and one cherub on the other end; from the atonement lid ³  you are to make the cherubim on the two ends.

You are to put the atonement lid on top of the ark, and in the ark you are to put the testimony I am giving you.
