They answered him, ¹  “Abraham is our father!” ²  Jesus replied, ³  “If you are ⁴  Abraham’s children, you would be doing ⁵  the deeds of Abraham.

So indeed it was credited to Abraham ¹  as righteousness.

And so by persevering, Abraham ¹  inherited the promise.

as he promised ¹  to our ancestors, ²  to Abraham and to his descendants ³  forever.”

the oath ¹  that he swore to our ancestor ²  Abraham. This oath grants ³ 

But Abraham said, ¹  ‘They have Moses and the prophets; they must respond to ²  them.’

Your father Abraham was overjoyed ¹  to see my day, and he saw it and was glad.” ² 

Then the Judeans ¹  replied, ²  “You are not yet fifty years old! ³  Have ⁴  you seen Abraham?”

Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, ¹ 

so then, understand ¹  that those who believe are the sons of Abraham. ² 

So then those who believe ¹  are blessed along with Abraham the believer.

And it could be said that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid a tithe through Abraham.

For he was still in his ancestor Abraham’s loins ¹  when Melchizedek met him.

and don’t think you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!

Therefore produce ¹  fruit ²  that proves your repentance, and don’t begin to say ³  to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ ⁴  For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones! ⁵ 

This is the record of the genealogy ¹  of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Abraham was the father ¹  of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, ¹  the son of Nahor,

Then ¹  the rich man ²  said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead ³  goes to them, they will repent.’

Then ¹  Jesus said to him, “Today salvation ²  has come to this household, ³  because he too is a son of Abraham! ⁴
