The new wine dries up, the vines shrivel up, all those who like to celebrate ¹  groan.

And I will say to myself, ¹  “You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!”’

Feasts ¹  are made ²  for laughter, and wine makes life merry, ³  but money is the answer ⁴  for everything.

They sing ¹  to the accompaniment of tambourine and harp, and make merry to the sound of the flute.

On the seventh day, as King Ahasuerus was feeling the effects of the wine, ¹  he ordered Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven eunuchs who attended him, ² 

Bring ¹  the fattened calf ²  and kill it! Let us eat ³  and celebrate,

Go, eat your food ¹  with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, because God has already approved your works.

A joyful heart ¹  makes the face cheerful, ²  but by a painful heart the spirit is broken.

A cheerful heart ¹  brings good healing, ²  but a crushed spirit ³  dries up the bones. ⁴

They went out to the field, harvested their grapes, ¹  squeezed out the juice, ²  and celebrated. They came to the temple ³  of their god and ate, drank, and cursed Abimelech.

I did not spend my time in the company of other people, laughing and having a good time. I stayed to myself because I felt obligated to you ¹  and because I was filled with anger at what they had done.
