Have all the warriors march around the city one time; ¹  do this for six days.

These were the traveling arrangements ¹  of the Israelites according to their companies when they traveled. ² 

And he told ¹  the army, ²  “Move ahead ³  and march around the city, with armed troops going ahead of the ark of the Lord.”

The Kishon River carried them off; the river confronted them ¹  – the Kishon River. Step on the necks of the strong! ² 

Have seven priests carry seven rams’ horns ¹  in front of the ark. On the seventh day march around the city seven times, while the priests blow the horns.

They ¹  charge ²  like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. ³  Each one proceeds on his course; they do not alter ⁴  their path.

Look, I am about to empower ¹  the Babylonians, that ruthless ²  and greedy ³  nation. They sweep across the surface ⁴  of the earth, seizing dwelling places that do not belong to them.

All those numbered of the camp of Judah, according to their divisions, are 186,400. They will travel ¹  at the front.

All those numbered of the camp of Ephraim, according to their divisions, are 108,100. They will travel third.

Egypt will run away, hissing like a snake, ¹  as the enemy comes marching up in force. They will come against her with axes as if they were woodsmen chopping down trees.

I am not angry. I wish I could confront some thorns and briers! Then I would march against them ¹  for battle; I would set them ²  all on fire,

He then asked, “Which invasion route are we going to take?” ¹  Jehoram ²  answered, “By the road through the Desert of Edom.”

O God, when you lead your people into battle, ¹  when you march through the desert, ²  (Selah)

So the kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom ¹  set out together. They wandered around on the road for seven days and finally ran out of water for the men and animals they had with them.
