For you defended my just cause; ¹  from your throne you pronounced a just decision. ² 

that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit ¹  on thrones judging ²  the twelve tribes of Israel.

Now Deborah, a prophetess, ¹  wife of Lappidoth, was ²  leading ³  Israel at that time.

You people ¹  judge by outward appearances; ²  I do not judge anyone. ³ 

For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Are you not to judge those inside?

These sayings also are from the wise: To show partiality ¹  in judgment is terrible: ² 

Jesus ¹  said to them, “I tell you the truth: ²  In the age when all things are renewed, ³  when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging ⁴  the twelve tribes of Israel.

The Lord afflicted the king with an illness; he suffered from a skin disease ¹  until the day he died. He lived in separate quarters, ²  while his son Jotham was in charge of the palace and ruled over the people of the land.

Then a trustworthy king will be established; he will rule in a reliable manner, this one from David’s family. ¹  He will be sure to make just decisions and will be experienced in executing justice. ² 

He told the judges, “Be careful what you do, ¹  for you are not judging for men, but for the Lord, who will be with you when you make judicial decisions.

“Do not judge so that you will not be judged. ¹ 

¹ Therefore ²  you are without excuse, ³  whoever you are, ⁴  when you judge someone else. ⁵  For on whatever grounds ⁶  you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things.

“‘You ¹  must not deal unjustly in judgment: ²  you must neither show partiality to the poor nor honor the rich. ³  You must judge your fellow citizen fairly. ⁴ 

Year after year he used to travel the circuit of Bethel, ¹  Gilgal, and Mizpah; he used to judge Israel in all of these places.

For by the standard you judge you will be judged, and the measure you use will be the measure you receive. ¹ 

They ¹  must not discriminate in judgment, but hear the lowly ²  and the great alike. Nor should they be intimidated by human beings, for judgment belongs to God. If the matter being adjudicated is too difficult for them, they should bring it before me for a hearing.

King Uzziah suffered from a skin disease until the day he died. He lived in separate quarters, ¹  afflicted by a skin disease and banned from the Lord’s temple. His son Jotham was in charge of the palace and ruled over the people of the land.

Does God pervert ¹  justice? ²  Or does the Almighty pervert ³  what is right?

Is it because of your piety ¹  that he rebukes you and goes to judgment with you? ² 

But the Lord ¹  rules ²  forever; he reigns in a just manner. ³
