Now to the eternal king, ¹  immortal, invisible, the only ²  God, be honor and glory forever and ever! ³  Amen.

and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an image resembling mortal human beings ¹  or birds or four-footed animals ²  or reptiles.

Treasures gained by wickedness ¹  do not profit, but righteousness ²  delivers from mortal danger. ³ 

but, despite their wealth, people do not last, ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

Wealthy people do not understand; ¹  they are like animals ²  that perish. ³ 

For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

It is the same with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. ¹ 

Now this is what I am saying, brothers and sisters: ¹  Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

You have been born anew, not from perishable but from imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God.

Lord, you have been active from ancient times; ¹  my sovereign God, ²  you are immortal. ³  Lord, you have made them ⁴  your instrument of judgment. ⁵  Protector, ⁶  you have appointed them as your instrument of punishment. ⁷ 

He alone possesses immortality and lives in unapproachable light, whom no human has ever seen or is able to see. To him be honor and eternal power! Amen.

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart.
